Siva Thandavam movie review

Story

Veergati (Nazar) UK security officer will be out to find out a person and know his motive in eliminating some top business magnates. To his surprise he finds that Kenny (Vikram) a blind man is behind all these murders. Why a blind man is killing big shots and what's the secret behind his actions has to be watched on silver screen.

Performance

Vikram performed well both as RAW intelligence officer and blind man. Santhanam as taxi driver evoked some laughter. Amy Jackson made her presence felt as London Beauty Queen. She got more screen presence than anyone else. Anushka as Vikram's wife Meenakshi looked good. While Lakshmi Rai as Geetha looked good though she did not have much scope for performance. Shayaji Shinde, Kota Srinivas Rao played small roles to perfection. Jagapathy Babu's special role as Sharath will spellbound all. More than Vikram his role will surprise all.

Analysis

Director AL. Vijay had an interesting script but slow pace of the film killed it altogether. The film started off with London Blasts and from then on had it picked up pace, it would have become another film like Kamal Hassan's investigative wonder 'Raghavan'. However it was not to be and as such the film will appeal to only those who like investigative films.

Except for Jagapathy Babu's role which has equal screen presence with that of Vikram others did not have much scope to perform. Though the film was shot lavishly in London, Delhi and Tanjore and boards are there for everyone to see, usage of Telugu names looks funny. London Police were shown like comedians who will do what villians wants rather than use their own brains. Even Vikram's fans would be disappointed as his role is mostly passive with very minimal stunts. Vijay's story is undid by lack of stunts, romance, comedy and everything. Screenplay is its biggest enemy. Only saving grace is the clean filming without any item numbers, mass beats and even smoking and drinking scenes.

Technical

Production values in the film are of high standard. Nirav Shah's cinematography is quite good and showed beauty of London in the most spell bounding manner. GV. Prakash's background scores are good but none of his songs are catchy. Antony seems to have forgotten his editing job. Manohar Varma's action scenes are quite good and reminds all of Hollywood flicks. Had he got chance to include more action scenes, film would have got that kick start. It is better AL. Vijay watch some Hollywood action films before he makes one as the story suffers from slow screen play. Had that been made up with some romantic and hilarious scenes viewers would have been satisfied.
